After fulfilling all the bureaucratic and sanitary requirements, Haras Porto Palmeira, located in Sapiranga (RS), exports to Uruguay, Atrevido do Porto Palmeira.
Advised by Solange Ferreira, from the export company Cersanto, the horse, the result of the crossing between two icons of the breed: Extrato do Minatto and Tribuna do Porto Palmeira arrived in the neighboring country in optimal conditions.
The importer is an Haras de Uruguay, located in Maldonado.
Today, the biggest challenges for animals leaving Brazil are related to bureaucratic, health problems, and especially to the costs of transport.
In order for a horse to be exported to North America and other countries in Europe, tests of equine infectious anemia (EIA), glanders, dourine and piroplasmosis, the latter disease caused by the tick, are required. Piroplasmosis tests are very strict in the United States, making it difficult and, in many cases, impossible to export.
The records of the Brazilian Association of Breeders of Mangalarga Marchador (ABCCMM) report that the first animal of the breed to leave Brazil was Emballo de la Tendencia, almost 25 years ago, of the breeder Carlos Mauricio Cordeiro de Freitas. The destination: Europe, more specifically Germany.
